Recently I posted a variety of Mother's Day gift ideas and I thought it was such a success that I'd do the same for dads. In fact, to me this is not only a dads gift guide for now, but also for later. After all, men (especially dads) are some of the hardest to buy for ... So a little help every now and then certainly makes a difference.
When I pondered the direction of this guide I decided that I'd rather focus on one specific thing in a variety of looks and price points. In order to do this I asked a few of my friends and family (all men) what they'd really want. The answer to my question, although stereotypical in a lot of ways, proved to be both useful and extravagant and altogether perfect. A chair.
Based on a classic mid-nineteenth-century design found in English country houses (how appropriate!) the Club Chair (my choice for dad) is as comfortable as it is chic and manly. Often overstuffed and slightly worn, the lounging level of satisfaction surely exceeds 100%. Below are the best I've found online - in a variety of colors and fabrics, my favorite being suede.
Affodable: The Jamison Club Chair in tan microfiber upholstery is a standard and simple option. Although slightly boring, it does come with a lovely price tag and an equally neutral appeal. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601-7530468-2927340?ASIN=B000TR4BGI&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B000TR4BGI|Jamison_Club_Chair_Tan&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B000TR4BGI&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001
Appropriate: What could beat an overstuffed, truffle-colored chenille chair with scrolled arms, hickory legs and a matching box-pillow included for free? Nothing. This Huntley Woods chair is the perfect option for masculine tastes, while still fitting nicely into a cozy den or living room. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=937&f=25842
A Plus: If you can't make it to a local designer showroom opt for a luxury, leather version like this one from Ethan Allen. The baseball stitching and removable legs are just a few of the extra's you get when you give. http://www.ethanallen.com/ea/com.ethanallen.ecom.FrameDirectorServlet?top=1&body=1
